wowwowwow!!! i have keratoconus with a vision acuity of 20/400 without my scleral contacts. this simulator is almost exactly what my world typically looks like.

Keratoconus ruined my early teenage life, but after CXL, intacts, and scleral lenses I was able to live like a normal human

This visualisation is very tame in its honesty though it is honest, it depicts the condition as it starts to affect your eyesight to begin with very accurately before it gets worse. I hope anyone watching this who doesn't have the condition understands that it is a lot more debilitating than this example, it can be a lot more worse than this, for example streetlights as in lampposts hurt, car headlights hurt I TRY avoid roads because of it and the light drags into your vision blinding you I feel more comfortable when there is no lights because the light blinds me more than the dark does (my eyes are better at noticing movement than they are at seeing shapes) cyclists who attach blinking headlights on their bike are the worst, it's actually painful as hyperphotosensitivity is something that those with bilateral Keratoconus have to deal with, it feels like someone is rubbing sand and needles in your eyes, it can be very frustrating and it feels almost personal (it's not personal obviously) to my fellow Keratoconus sufferers, I understand you and I hope you have found peace and accept your eye condition, it's an invisible affliction to others, I hope you realise that there is hope for us, personaly myself I suggest writing and or learning an instrument to play and take your eyesight more seriously than others treat it

OMG THIS IS SO ACCURATE I HAVE KERATACONUS AND THATS BANG ON CORRECT. I HAVE TO WAIT FOR ANOTHER FOUR MONTHS FOR MY FIRST APPOINTMENT FOR LENSES. I HAVE DONE CROSSLINKING AND IT STOPPED MY EYESIGHT GETTING WORSE

I have had two corneal transplants in each eye due to astigmatism and extreme keratoconus and dangerous thinning of the cornea on the apex. I am now a very happy spectacle wearer.

my mom has keratoconus and after using hard lenses for years, she started using scleral lenses a couple years ago. she swears by them too and i only learned recently why she never really liked using glasses haha! thanks for sharing

The difference between keratoconus and other eye diseases like cataract/glaucoma and macular degeneration is kc happen at very young age when we are working for our career

I don't know what is giving me more pain
– vision loss due to keratoconus
– psychological pain of not seeing

I just had a C3R on 4th november and my relatives are asking if I am seeing clearly now (I am just speechless)
How can I explain them that it is not meant to cure the disease?

You know all my life at first I was told I just had lazy eye but I recently got diagnosed with keratoconus and I realized my vision has been like this most of my life. I can’t wait to get my contacts because it is getting very hard to see

Yep, JUST got diagnosed with this at age 40. Had stable 20/50 vision for all my life; i was born with glaucoma so 20/20 was never in the cards, but never saw this cornea thing coming. Really was only worried about eye pressure and optic nerve/retina health until now
