I use a money belt, yea it's tacky but I've yet to be a victim of pickpockets. Backpacks always in the front.

When I travelled I split money up. Era of the 80's / 90's was the bum bag or fanny pack (fanny = vagina here in Oz LOL) but I followed the same life styles as Americans. I carried $20-$50 in loose notes in my pocket as I had this ready for immediate purchases (gifts / meals, etc). I recently acquired a money trouser belt with an inside zipper to store extra cash. Going through security gates at airports could be interesting. I pay the few dollars a day for a room safe & stored my passport in there with 90% of my currency. Does not hurt to hide $50 USD in each of your shoes when you are & about. Will get you back to your hotel in a pinch.

Berlin is generally safe (in terms of pickpocketing). Be careful in Cologne especially, and because of recent geopolitical changes, Munich as well.

i don't get tip 4.. for the most part it's okay but put ID in the wallet that can be pickpocketed? might as well put ID in money belt as well.. then it really won't ruin your vacation

Carry mouse traps in over coat pockets. Might be good for a laugh.

Pickpockets are all over the world. They continue to do so because the penalties aren't severe enough. Someone ought to come up with trousers that already have a built in inside pocket in lieu of money belts.

You are right about the money belt. Use a safety pen also. Do not carry a purse.

Just travel with like 8 fake wallets, 2 in each pocket

Wear a pair of underpants (with some homemade velcro pockets sewn into them) over the fresh underpants you put on in the morning. You can't get more secure than that.

do it the old fashion way ladys. put your wallet or change purse directly inside your bra cup. be sure it goes dead center inside the cup. no safer place and its fun for me when i see you pay for something.

Why does one have to cart around a rucksack all of the time?Why does one need to cart it around when travelling throughthe streets of any city?Just take enough money for the day.  Carry a copy of your passportfor an ID.  Why does one need a mobile?  I don't carry one nor a debitcard.

for the ladys just put your wallet or change purse directly inside your bra cup. its safe and convient. be sure not to wear a tight fitting jersey.
