I think TikTok single handedly killed most social media apps, seems like all the new content, memes, news, etc... are on tiktok now

I think so, especially because literally every title is "The ____ Situation is Insane"

But hey that's just a theory, an internet theory

i feel like people are starting to use the internet less. i personally say that this is a pretty good thing cause it may mean that people could focus more on the real world and stuff that matters.

I feel like some social media platforms are dying (Facebook, Instagram). I'm a content creator on Instagram and one thing I feel ruined is the hashtag algorithm. If I search a specific hashtag, I used to get over a thousand results. Now, it's become "Recent Top Posts". It's frustrating to me as a small creator.

It's tough to say, but the internet is currently going through a phase i called the "Short Phase". The new construct of 10 sec-1min shorts are dominanting the content stream. An endless abyss of nonstop videos everytime you scroll and to put an honorable mention the Mr. Beast clones, unatrual hyper creators, the excessive brain rot. All these factors have turn the majority of modern day internet content into i quote from Jurassic Park, "Yep...thats one big pile of shit". Then again the saving grace are creators like FreshCutSlim, creators we enjoy what they put and want to support.

The fact that it's a big theory to get a google definition shows enough people are having this feeling. That's telling

I think it's dead but not in the way some ppl think where "everyone is a bot" or whatever, it's just that the internet is being ruined by algorithms

Wow Slim, I already enjoyed the video alot but what really sold me was the amazing masterpiece of a poll. It absolutely blew my mind. Not only is it expertly put together, it also fits and compliments the video and the topic extremely well and very much enriches it. I will surely remember this experience until I die. Truly life changing.

I’ve heard this theory before and yeah it checks out

I’ve definitely experienced this before and it’s sad but we opened the Pandora’s box of Ai and Bots and this is the consequences of it

I approve. No more "reddit memes", no more "Youtube memes". Memes could last months in 2016 and reached so many people. No more of that.

Just the future itself and ai scares me, manly on how fast ai is evolving and a lot of stuff is being generated to the point where people can’t tell if it’s real or not and I have this feeling knowing there’s a lot of trolls on the internet (like me) that’ll use it for bad instead of good lol.

Twitter or X replies on big accounts are full of bots promoting their content and saying generic stuff and a ton of nsfw bots flooding the posts

Since companies advertise on the internet, I wonder what they’ll do if they acknowledge that they aren’t getting to people anymore? Will they help to fight bots? Will they try to encourage people to use the internet?

Cause it would cost them more to advertise outside the internet I’d imagine, especially on billboards.

I agree with ya chap on the dead Internet theory (although of course not to the extend of manipulation of the populace) (also get ready for a ramble)

I do remember growing up with the internet during the 2010s in my youth (yes I'm Gen Z, but not to the extend that everyone would think, I feel more 90s-2000s mentality), when it felt as if content was human made. It almost seems depressing how much the internet has changed in the last 10 years

Sure, bots did exist around this point, but not to the horrendous extend that it has come today, and, honestly, AI has become more of a curse on the internet, as well as bots (indeed I watched Ethan Nestor's video on AI yesterday, and he raised a lot of good points too about AI's consequences)

Stuff like this makes me want to go back to the 2000s, when content felt human made (even if I lived only two years and four months in the 2000s)

There are still probably more humans than bots on the Internet
