JBL Flip 5 - Teardown

See inside Flip 5 and compare with Flip 4.
Design is similar to Charge 4 and do not judge before listening - this single driver is capable of incredible performance:
My frank opinion is:
- Clearly more bass and louder vs Flip 4
- Crispy sound
- Sound stage is equal to Flip 4, it is a no-sense talking about stereo for such small speakers

for everyone asking, the flip 5 is mono audio because on small speakers with 2 drivers like the flip 4 you can’t hear the stereo sound. the drivers are too close. the one driver that the flip 5 has is more powerful delivering louder sound with better bass and clarity.

Don’t know why people are complaining about the fact the flip 5 uses a mono speaker instead of stereo. The reason why is because the body of the speaker is so small that there is no stereo separation so there is no point in having stereo speakers. The mono speaker is way bigger and creates more bass, loudness and overall better sound. Jbl are not going to release a product worst than their original. I have a flip 4 and flip 5 and I can tell you the flip 5 sounds way better. If you really want true stereo just buy another flip 5 which is basically also why they went with mono cause they want you to buy another unit

The sound is decent. Mids are most prevalent which makes it harder to hear in noisy enviorments (e.g. in the shower). It is lacking in higher frequencies though, they should have put a tweeter in it. Could have dominated the bluetooth speaker market if they kept it at Connect+.

I'd prefer the mono audio when it comes to bluetooth speakers, it produced better bass and overall loudness. Flip 5 should be perfect for people like me.

I found mine thrown away in the ewaste bin at a bottle depot. It was all dirty and had a little rip in the fabric. I pressed the power button and it started up! Then I connected my phone and it worked and sounded great! I got it home, cleaned it all up and I’ve been using it ever since. It sounds so good I got rid of my Klipsch heritage groove. The battery lasts hours. I can’t believe someone discarded it… it’s $169 at a local store still. We live in such a throwaway society

I do feel like they could’ve put it on the center cause it kinda would’ve sounded less like one of its speakers wouldn’t work
