I designed a tool to avoid upholstery mistakes! Introducing: CAF Material Gap Gauge

In car audio and custom upholstery we make many different shapes and panels that fit together within the vehicle interior. For our custom panels to look perfect we must create the exact right gap size to account for clearance for upholstery materials. Vinyl, leather, carpet, suede, tweed, they all have a different clearance that is needed. If the gap is too small then the panels are too tight and don't go together right, too large of a gap and the panels easily fall apart. How do we get the right gap size? I created a new tool! How has this method held up on the down-firing sub box with all that vibration?
What are your thoughts on this method compared to (you're tips from a few years ago now) using magnets?
