The Behringer Model D is an homage (or clone, depending on your point of view...) to the classic and legendary Minimoog Model D.

Behringer's main achievement, aside from creating a faithful and great sounding synth, is pricing it at $300. In this video I review some of the "cons" of this synth, and the many "pros" that make it a very enjoyable synthesizer, including three oscillators, a classic ladder filter, 5 modulation sources, two envelopes, two LFOs and a small but capable set of patch points.

Gear used alongside the D:
The Arturia Keystep
Cremacaffe Kosmo stand

Thank you for this tutorial. For many Model D Owners, this will be their first synth, and such a clear explanation of its various functions will be a great boon.

Thank you. I’m a first-time Model D owner and I sincerely appreciate the level of detail.

This is my go-to refresher course on using this synth. I work full time, and sometimes must wait sev months to fire up my two D's. Your guidance ALWAYS gets me back on course! Thanks.

This is probably one of the best tutorials I’ve ever seen. Brilliant work.

I own a model D for a few months now. Mine turned out to be a semitone out of tune as well. As a first-time synth owner I was a bit scared to do it myself but after watching Behringer's tutorial video 15 times to be sure that i'm doing it right, it actually turned out to be very easy to do it. I didn't use a voltmeter or anything. I just used a screwdriver and Ableton's tuner to fix it. It was actually pretty easy.
It's a pretty good learning synth. 3 osc, noise, and the nice filter allow you to do a lot of things already. Eventually the need for a polyphonic synth arisen and when I heard about Poly D, I actually got pretty excited. But when I heard the price I changed my mind and ordered a deepmind 12 instead.

This is a post that has helped me immeasurably. It moves fast, but I learned so much about this instrument watching each ‘chapter’, then applying the tips to my own D in real time. It’s made realize what a marvel the model D was. Thanks so much for posting this.

Die Art und Weise wie du alles erklärst ist toll auch wenn es in englisch ist, ist mir recht.

The way you explain everything is very good.

Had one for 6 years now and still going strong, it's had heavy use too. Nice to revisit this, loopop always has great demos on how to use it musically.

Just got my D today (26-Apr) and your video is just what I’ve been looking for! I’m a classic rock guitarist that knows very little about synths and midi but you’ve given me a great head start.Cheers!

I bought a model d second hand like a year ago as I was hoping to get into synthesizing (I'm a guitar player). Anyway, fast forward a year later and In finally figuring out the model D. I figured out how to get some amazing sounds on my own after messing around with it for an afternoon, but this video is incredibly informative. Yes, although the model D is pretty intuitive, such that some nob like myself can figure some things out, this video is amazing. Thank you so much! Fantastic job, homie!

Love the intro - ELP's Lucky Man, in which the synth solo is an homage to Dick Hyman's Minotaur.

This channel is like the gospel for beginner synths. I use this exact setup (Black keystep haha), and have got a deepmind12 coming tomorrow. I’m a guitar player so having a resource like this is absolutely invaluable.

Great intro. I played the D back in the 1970's and miss my twins. I'm thinking this might be a fun trip down memory lane. Now to find my patches!

This is one of the most comprehensive tutorials I've come across. Thank you! I've subscribed to your channel and now I'm going to browse your videos. I'm sure I'll find much more great stuff there.

Thanks for that. I bought this little beast two months ago and did not have enough time to dive deeper into it. So, this helps a lot! As always, a fantastic video!
