Most routers/Modems are quite monopolized to be used only with DynDns and another DNSS provider that is also owned by DynDns. So you are pushed to pay a yearly subscription with them in stead of getting a free service from other DNSS available companies. There is also the choice of running the "tomato" firmware in your router/modem if you have a compatible chip to install it, but you take a big risk of making your router/modem worthless. I have a Zoom X7 router/modem and it doesn't have the option to choose a free DynDns service provider.
