My sister runs the local ski area and jimmy and his family booked lessons for their kids for the weekend so she spent a lot of time around them. She said he was the nicest most down to earth celebrity she’s ever met and she’s met quite a few. You could tell in the beginning of 2016 jimmy tried to stay out of the trump derangement program which is what started latenights downfall. Wether you hate trump or not, he is what’s broken late night comedy. They all became government stooges.

The last truly great late night talk show host was Craig Ferguson. But even then, Josh Robert Thompson really helped The Late Late Show propel into something truly special.

No one topped Carson and Cavett. I rewatch bits of both and they never get old. Watching any late night host in 2023 is like watching a dystopian sketch show I'm not in on. Its so unnatural. That's why longform podcasts have superseded them. People want authenticity (and to a more limited though no less important degree, our schedules and media habits have changed which makes longform media more accessible and even preferrable).
