Motorists using Mombasa road today experienced delays, after the National Transport and Security Authority, NTSA, set up a road block at the Machakos junction, to check compliance of the drivers and passengers with traffic rules.

The NTSA officials, led by the Director General, Francis Meja, stopped all manner of vehicles. Motorists had to park their cars at the roadside for some time, to facilitate the checks. Those whose vehicles were found not in compliance. had their number plates confiscated. They checked the speed governors on public service vehicles and the speed the vehicles were moving at. This comes as Kenya prepares to mark the upcoming World Day for Remembrance of Victims of road crashes, on Sunday 19th in Karai, on the Nakuru-Naivasha highway. They say such roadblocks will be mounted in other regions of the country, to sensitize motorists and passengers on road safety.
