Step parents are basically never "responsible" for their step kids, and when they actually are, i feel discipline is expected and natural. Hitting is never a great form of discipline.

Wow, most of these people that are commenting are fowl. Let me tell you something. I'm a single mother, I was with their father for 13 years and I tried everything to make it work but he was a lying, cheating, abusive asshole so I left. As a single mother when I have dated no guy was allowed to meet my boys unless I knew the relationship was going somewhere. Unfortunately people can be deceiving. Now I'm going to say this the two guys I actually introduced my boys to they were allowed to correct my boys however they were not allowed to abuse my children. Because I'm sorry if you abuse my kids we are going to war. There are forms of authority without hitting them ( especially with kids who were abused by a biological parent) and are mentally disabled. So for you to sit there and say don't take single mothers seriously and another man said single mothers are for the streets I'm sorry but single mothers are for grown men only not for these boys pretending to be men these days. Man up and grow up otherwise be single because your not worth our time and energy.

My pops got wit my mom when she had my 1 yr old sister. 3 years later I was born. Marine veteran now a chief engineer with a nice house and a new stang. If u can’t man up and do it just admit it lol
