National Anthem of Czechia: Kde domov můj

"Kde domov můj" is the national anthem of the Czech Republic. The piece was written as a part of the incidental music to the comedy Fidlovačka aneb Žádný hněv a žádná rvačka (Fidlovačka, or No Anger and No Brawl). It was first performed by Karel Strakatý at the Estates Theatre in Prague on 21 December 1834.

The anthem is composed by the composer František Škroup and the lyrics are written by playwright Josef Kajetán Tyl. This version was performed by the Moravia Brass Band.

Kde domov můj? (Où est ma patrie?) est l'hymne national de la Tchéquie depuis la séparation de la Tchécoslovaquie en 1993.

Cet hymne provient de la comédie Fidlovačka aneb žádný hněv a žádná rvačka, écrite par le compositeur František Škroup et le dramaturge Josef Kajetán Tyl, jouée pour la première fois au théâtre des États de Prague le 21 décembre 1834.

ČEŠTINA: Kde domov můj je původně píseň o dvou slokách, složená pro postavu slepého houslisty v divadelní hře Josefa Kajetána Tyla Fidlovačka aneb Žádný hněv a žádná rvačka z roku 1834. Píseň brzy zlidověla a stala se českou vlasteneckou hymnou, poté se její první sloka stala českou částí československé státní hymny, v níž byla následována první slokou nynější hymny slovenské (Nad Tatrou sa blýska), a poté samostatně hymnou České republiky. Již od 19. století k písni vznikalo také množství nejrůznějších doplňků i parafrází.

Here's a fun fact. The oldest brewery in Croatia was opened by Czechs. The beer they produced was called "Staročesko pivo". It's still produced to this day.
