Located in Jerusalem, Herod's Temple was the heart of Israelite worship, a sacred place shaped by the Old Testament and enriched by centuries of Jewish tradition. It was the center of sacrifices, offerings, and Jewish festivals.

At the temple’s entrance through the Beautiful Gate, men and women gathered in the Court of the Women, engaging in worship through prayer, fasting, and hymns. From there, Israelite men advanced to the Court of the Israelites, which overlooked the grand altar where priests made sacrifices on behalf of the people.

It is slanted inward because it’s a retaining wall. It is meant to hold in the rubble from multiple layers, representing many generations of construction / destruction on that site. Basically it’s an artificial mountain which the walls contain.

I still think this was the Roman Fort that was described as being uphill from the Temple. Jesus said no stone would be left unturned from the Temple and it just so happens that the theorized alternate location has every stone block removed but still contains the conditions necessary to have performed all the old animal sacrifices.

I don't see how they say they can catalog every stone. The Romans plowed the temple under the rubble with a lot of them were broke and lost as I understood it.

The foundation blocks were knocked down by Roman soldiers in 70 AD. The gold of various fixtures in the Temple had melted and flowed down into the blocks during the siege of Jerusalem when the Temple was set on fire. To recover the gold, the Roman soldiers knocked the blocks down.

The Jewish temple should be considered one of the ancient wonders, because of its grand size. It was a colossal building, created for a single purpose, for an entire nation to use. At its zenith, there could have easily been over a million Jews alive, with a hundred thousand people accessing its grounds, not to include the women's section, the gentile section, and all the livestock required for their time sensitive annual sacrifice.

Very interesting this short video. I wonder who really built the the great temple. Just looking at the standing walls required very experienced labour...

Fortress Antonia, a section of the perimeter wall and the 2 most magnificent defensive towers, were left standing as a monument or reminder of the city that used to exist. Everything else was destroyed down to the foundations. This is according to writings from witnesses at the time if my memory is not wrong.

Do you mean the stones from the temple? Isn't that pile sitting next to the temple mount, the remains of the temple, itself?

The Romans did similar things. If you really look at their temples, the fascias actually arch slightly. This makes it look horizontal to the eye. If they made them horizontally, it would like they sagged to the eye.
