When chosing a pasword I use multiple phone numbers and string them all together. This makes for a very long secure passowrd, and it's also much easier to remember 😊

A clear video, I hope people heed what you say and use with caution I've had some bad results using encryption software

I'll add a warning here. I used Veracrypt on a Linux system. I encrypted a small hard drive which was used externally for storing data. Unfortunately and unbeknown to me, the drive could only be decrypted using the same computer operating system it was encrypted on. I was running Linux Mint, but I had to do a fresh install because the earlier Linux Mint, couldn't update to the latest version, so I had to format the drive and start again, but then, I couldn't decrypt my external drive.

Wanted to mention that you must decrypt a hard drive if it is your system drive if you update your BIOS this is a warning I have each time I have ever updated my BIOS and if you fail to decrypt it may end up with a computer that will no longer boot or potentially brick the system entire. If your BIOS warns you about this heed the warning and decrypt your drive before you update it. don't do anything otherwise.

The most secure way in my opinion is using an external (portable) hard drive to encrypt your data. This way will keep your OS safe to use, because if you mess up when encrypting all your OS or fail to decrypt your C:drive this will brick the system, and you will lose everything.

You don’t need to create an EFI folder. As it says, you extract the contents of the zip file to the root directory and in doing so, will create a folder in the usb called EFI

I prefer to just encrypt files with Veracrypt to mount and use as added drives. I usually use a file extension of large files such as video files. I can also easily copy those files over to backup drives. Best not to associate Veracrypt with files of that extension, otherwise even a normal file will flag up there's an actual Veracrypt file with that extension on the main drive.

So, I got to ask doesn't BitLocker does the same job?

Hey Brian, how do we become a YouTube member and what, if any benefits are there?

Ok Brian this is quite a good thing to do but knowing my luck I would mess it up if I did this and I just cannot take the chance of installing this software in case I lose all of my drive. Plus I did notice from another reply that there is a way to recover the drive using a software you referred to as Recovery Drive which seems to me to make a bit of a nonsense to encrypt the drive in the first place - or have I misunderstood what you said about that software and the encryption process.

Drive encryption, regardless of OS, is a pain in the arse. I much prefer creating containers and mounting them to keep my files in.

I've often this situation : The laptop's motherboard is dead. I've to backup the data of it doesn't work because all data's are encrypted and The custome has forgotten the password of the "de-encryption"

I’m guessing this is for those that don’t have BitLocker on their systems.
