RP Book Club focuses on the Communist Manifesto, Ch 1 - Bourgeois and Proletarians. It's a deep-dive into the themes of power, capitalism, and the revolutionizing ideas presented by Marx and Engels. It highlights the intersection of Modern Monetary Theory (MMT) with class analysis, and the importance of understanding power dynamics in effecting social change. Insane logic of capitalism: it MUST manufacture SCARCITY in order to justify its existence.

It's human nature to always want more. There are privately owned companies that are not in the stock market too like LLCs. They also want more profits. We have professional sports players that are multi-millionaires. They represent the workers in professional sports but they too always want more. Everyone of us would accept a raise in our income.

We have to be forced to be capped on greed.

It's not oversimplifying to say it's about greed. It really _is_ about greed. Once people have a nice house and car, many start to think about getting a nicer house and car. I think that's part of human nature. Capitalism feeds off this quirk of human nature, and promotes greed. We are bombarded with advertisements and tv shows glorifying opulence. Look at who America's heroes are---movie stars and athletes, living in palatial homes and dripping in jewels. Of course, there are many who are happy to live simply, but they are not widely venerated. In fact, in a capitalist society, they may be considered losers.

Read it. Wasn't that impressed. Two things that stand out in my mind is the call for armed resistance, and the demand for conformity of different factions of Communism. I have on Kindle 3 short books by Marx on Economics. Finished one & started on another, need to get back to these. Those seem much more intelligent and deal with existing issues. The Manifesto does mention that the "Aristocracy" [?] hoards resources unto themselves but I didn't get all that much out of it 😉

The Bourgeois and Proletarians, what an unhinged view of reality.
