In my country, when Coconuts fall from their tree they start growing super fast like wild plants. We have so many little ones in our back yard I just wish I can give you a few😭.

If u wanted to grow a coconut dont remove the husk, the is the one who can hold the right amount of water for it and it is where the first roots of the coconut grow

You must select a coconut with its shell and which is fluid filled (shake it know how much fluid it has inside). The fluid and the shell are necessary part of the sprouting process.

there are so many things you have to know before you try growing a coconut :

1) buy a complete coconut with the green hust retained
2) if you don't get the green husked one, atleast make sure you don't remove the small portion of the husk which is pyramidal in shape covering the eyes of the coconut before you try to plant them
3) do not expect a green coconot to sprout it should dry first, and do not open a green coconut to plant it .. open the husk only if its hard and brown
4) better than soaking in water try planting it on a nutrient rich or compost or tropical soil and water it regularly and adequately... it will sprout from 2-3 weeks
5) coconut won't sprout to a plant or even have coconut fruit within 2-3 days or even within one week of sprouting, it might take upto 2-3 weeks
6) try not to use that plastic bag and sufffocte the plant ...the sprout in thw second coconut had lot of contact with water and less sunlight that it decayed

Ok so, here's a short info, i am an Indian and here in India we have this tradition where you keep a coconut eyes down on top of a brass pot filled with water .the mouth of the pot is is only big enough for the eyes of the coconut to stay submurged in water and trust me, not only does the coconut grow sprouts but it also shows the leaves growing out of it

A note: To eat sprouted coconut, it needs to be at the stage where there are a few leaves popping out already!

Sprouted coconut is the best - not too sweet, but so tasty buttery melt in your mouth flavorful

I live in tropical North Queensland, Australia and I have about 10 coconut trees, I wish I could send you some because literally coconuts fall off and start growing constantly, I’m basically pulling them out like weeds 😭

That covonut will mold and evenyually die off if you immerse it in water.. The right way to sprout a coconut is to get an old coconut with the husk on, and keepit in a sunny and humid area but not wet. The shoot will sprout after sometime. Remember, coconut likes tropical climate, so mimic the way it is sprouted..under the shade of its own tree..so it means it will get rained on, it will get shade, it will get bright sunshine.

So what I think it may be is mold, mine looked the same way and I thought it sprouted but the white was mold and it took over the whole coconut, I assumed that’s the case here too bc the inside didn’t show signs of sprouting

Damp sand will do the trick. It drain excess moisture. Imagine tropical weather, just enough moisture in the air, not too much.

I stay in Mumbai, India(Tropical Area). Here we use slightly different techniques to grow coconut.
I don't know if you will be able to propagate it or no but try this out.

- Take a Glass of Water slightly less in diameter than the coconut and fill it with water less than the Brim. Place the coconut on the top of the Glass of Water, make sure that the eyes are facing down to the water. The coconut must not be submerged into the water or else it would Rot as your past trials did. Let the eyes of the coconut just touch the water(don't submerge wholly) there will be enough humidity between the coconut and the glass of water to propagate it, and it will sprout that way itself. Same way as we how we sprout Avocados, follow the same step till you see the leaves, then you are good to plant it. Happy Planting!! ❤️
