What motivates him are the belief in freewill and the urge to live on in the afterlife, anyone who doesn't want this, will be predisposed to go for the other positions, funny how what we want/like shapes our positions, which we then support with logic, both atheist and theists do this (Hume was right afterall on this, reason follows the passions)

Btw, I agree with him, we have freewill (nonlibertarian tho), we are responsible for what we do, we believe in the afterlife for (1) justice for the wronged, and (2) we don't want to die and be annihilated.
