Yes It’s a blurry painting 🔍
How do I fix mistakes or make corrections in oil painting? 👇
1 WET on WET While the paint is still wet, you can scrape off or wipe away the paint using a palette knife, rag, or brush to make corrections. This works well for adjusting shapes, creating highlights, or removing excess paint.
2 OVERPAINTING If it’s a small mistake paint over it once the previous layer has dried. This will be difficult to do if you are trying to cover a light colour over a dark one.
3 SOLVENT/MEDIUM Using a clean brush dipped in a solvent like odorless mineral spirits or an oil painting medium, you can selectively remove or lighten areas of paint.
4 SCUMBLING/GLAZING If the mistake is in the form of the wrong colour, value, or intensity, you can use glazing techniques to add a layer of transparent pigment overtop. Similarly, scumbling techniques involve applying a colour over an another one to create a desired effect or correct mistakes.
5 SCRAPE DOWN TEXTURE if you want to fix a bigger mistake such as the basic drawing of an area it’s best to use a pallette knife and gently scrape/scratch the layers of paint off to create a smoother surface for you to start on again. You can apply another an oil painting ground & there will be less texture from your covered work.
