Because window buttons have traditionally been something that you could easily use without having to take your eyes off the road. Car manufacturers apparently want all controls to be difficult and potentially dangerous to use.

VW did it first. And, yes, it sucks.

At least it’s not done through a touch screen on a huge slab in the middle of the dash.

Now hold rear down for 3 seconds and control all the window at the same time with one switch! BOOM!!

To be fair, the amount of times I put the back windows down when I want the front. I think it would work for me.

What if I want to close all the windows at the same time?

1 x Touch button switch $ < 2 x Spring loaded 2-way buttons $
Simple optimization. Saves probably a few workers yearly wage.

Never thought I’d see a VW/Ford collab

The logic here isn't to save money. It's to, seriously, prevent you from mixing up the front and rear switches when reaching for the other of the pair. By forcing you to look away from the

Well, because that’s what they got out of the VW parts bin…

Acutally this might be an unpopular opinion, but I hate when I sort of press my driver's window and accidentally open the rear one because I put my finger on the lower row. This might be the only good thing about this, but If I wanna roll down all the windows this just sucks because you'd have to press 5 buttons to do that

Because now they can produce only half the buttons and charge extra for it. ✌️🙂

I also thought it was a bad solution, until I got used to this solution in my id3. After some time I think it is a great solution, because in my previous cars, whenever I wanted to open the front window, I would open the back window first. Now I don't have this problem, and I will add that the driver most often opens the front windows! 👍👍👍

OMG.. is that the exact same control out of a VW ID3?? I have one and it looks identical and yes it completely sucks.

The mirror adjuster is annoying too because its position is digital, so it always resets to the centre. I want it to stay on L and I have to set it there every time I get in.
