WOW! My dad was a watchmaker/repair man. He would be 102 if he was still alive. As a kid I saw his lathe in his workshop but never saw him use it. He told me watchmaker sometimes had to make the parts. I had NO IDEA the skill he had. I’m in awe! The precision to cut a balance staff is incredibly. Thank you for showing us what you do. Truly amazing.

Loved it! Music got a little too loud and masked out the sound of your voice toward the end of the video. I think it was around 54 minutes mark in the video. I love the commentary. I like to hear you explaining what you are doing as you go along. Very educational video!

I’m in awe JD My eyes are like Ben Turpins. Wish they were as good as my hearing lol. I could hear a mouse fart from 30 yards lol.

Outstanding video. Thank you so much! Would you mind posting the part numbers for the gravers? A source from which to purchase them would be most appreciated as well.

Would it be viable to use the actual jewels in the b-cock and in the main plate to gauge the pivots?

Absolutely enjoy your running commentary, but I understand the need to focus on your work. Always do what is best. I am sure that you understand when you need to explain detailed work. Viewers have different levels of experience and you read the comments. People that don't understand that will have to tolerate it😃. Thanks for great videos.

In one of your videos you recommend tungsten carbide gravers.
A video on sharpening them would be incredibly useful.
Diamond stones are a necessity but how far do you go when polishing.
Tried polishing on an Arkansas stone after a 1200 diamond stone - just laughed and said “no way”
Your advice would be appreciated.

Sir; I ran into a corrosion problem when I used a synthetic oil to coat my lathe compound while it was "offline" for a bit...it seemed that the synthetic oil had some kind of chemical in it that caused a very fast, and persistent, surface rust on the otherwise-beautiful steel :-( just thinking that one might want to test a particular oil before a lot of use...

Jd. Have you ever weighed the finished staff you make and compared to the original. Just a question weather the minutest of weight would be a problem. Always fascinated wether even mass production every thing weighed the same.

Hello. Could I trouble you for the name of the book you are using? Thanks!

The tiny gauge is called a Tanzmeister (dance master) in Germany

You need to get that box out of the left hand corner. That's not OK. It;s way too distracting, it takes up way too much space, and you can't even read it anyways. Can't even watch this video with that junk there.
