The Caravelle details from Volkswagen -
"The Caravelle in detail
Nine seats as standard: The Caravelle is the ideal choice for a large-capacity taxi or shuttle bus. The entry-level version already offers a removable three-seat bench in the third row as standard, giving it a total of nine seats. Compared with the Transporter versions, the Caravelle features refined seat fabrics, side and curtain airbags in the cab and an audio system with ten loudspeakers. The medium Life equipment level is enhanced by features such as bumpers, exterior mirror housings and door handles painted in the vehicle colour, air conditioning system, armrests for the driver’s seat, a height-adjustable front passenger seat with lumbar support adjustment and armrests to match the driver’s seat, unique decorative trims, three additional USB ports in the passenger compartment and 16-inch alloy wheels.

Visually distinctive flagship version: The Caravelle Style can be recognised on the outside by its distinctive front with a dark contrasting strip, which includes an integrated chrome strip. The chrome trim is continued to the LED matrix headlights – equipped as standard in this case – which also feature the cornering light and poor weather light function. Compared with the Life version, additional features of the Caravelle Style include LED tail light clusters with a custom light signature, privacy glass in the rear and 17-inch alloy wheels. Also standard: the keyless locking and starting system Keyless Access, electrically folding exterior mirrors, two-tone leatherette seats, distinctive applications in the interior, multifunction leather steering wheel, large centre console with cup holders, a three-zone automatic air conditioner with an additional control panel for the rear (in the headliner) and sun blinds in the second seat row. The Caravelle can be optionally refined with details such as a large panoramic roof and a Harman Kardon sound system with 14 speakers (including subwoofer)."

Looks better than I expected! I don’t like the front of the Multivan T7 but I do like the front of this Transporter T7 in any case I still prefer my T6.1!
Caravelle was always a van either basic panels and 3 rows of seats, the multivan has proper panels in doors, swivel seats, etc.

So confusing. What’s the current Multivan then? Anyways, great to see that they made it wider and longer. And super curious on the EV version

Because these vans are based on a new shared platform I can see VW making these Transporter/Ford vans break away models from the T7 Multivan lineage with a new name.
As I'd want the PHEV or BEV model and I'm not willing to pay £50k to 80k+ for a van it won't effect me but it is all very interesting.

You can see it’s a transit but the styling looks better that the Ford. Don’t underestimate the extra load space - it will make a better camper than the T6. Love that green ❤

Love how heavy the VW badge can carry anything off and the fan boys will make any excuses to defend the band like it’s their own creation.
It will be more popular and more expensive than the ford to run and buy but hold its money better while the bank still has some credit in it from previous models.
Great money making move from VW. Nick someone else’s van slap some badges on it and charge more money because you can 👌 💰

The new Ford transit is probably a very good van and the VW copy of that doesn’t look bad either, but is still isn’t a VW and it will never be a VW. If I am considering buying a replacement for my current T5 Multivan, it will not be the new ‘Ford’ Transporter. I rather would choose for the original, which is the Ford Transit. Although I am a VW adept, I must admit that the Ford will most probably much cheaper than it’s VW derivative and also maintenance at the Ford dealership will be much cheaper. I am still convinced that VW made a huge mistake to hand over development and production to Ford of one of VW’s iconic models. Ford will be the one who really benefits of this deal the most since VW also handed over the complete after market business to Ford with this deal! So Ford did very well with this deal and VW not so. For me personally replacing my multivan in the future would mean to look for a second hand T6.1 or maybe I finally have to divert to another brand like Ford or maybe Mercedes-Benz (can’t believe I am writing this 😢). But I will not buy a VW which isn’t a real VW but a surrogate Ford 😔

The fact is its a rebadged ford, You would be better off spending less on the equivalent ford version !!!

I’ll be sticking to my early T6 euro5 (late 2015j which has been faultless! Until it dies which might be when the T8 comes 2030 then I’ll be looking to getting a new van. Keep hearing the T6.1 has issues and it doesn’t have a foot rest either! Trans(h)it…no thanks

Let's hope for no ford wet belt motors 😮

Rebadged Ford Transit Custom built by Ford. The Ford small van range like the Transit Connect will be rebadged VW Caddies built by VW. The Transit has the "wet belt" issue. Not sure if that's been resolved yet but it seems like VW are moving from the siezed water pump/cambelt snap issue in the T6 to another cambelt failure issue with these Ford T7s. Time will tell if Ford cracked it. No one else seems to have and the "wet belt" replacement will be very expensive due to the difficulty of access. However on the plus side, the vans are fully hot dipped galvanised, rather than zinc electroplated, so rust should be something users wont be seeing for at least 20 years

The front bumper is the only noticeable difference to the Ford Transit. Everything from the front doors back looks interchangeable with the Transit.

I work for VW and it will be now know as the Volkswagen Transporter not the T7. Your thoughts about the colours are also correct. The 110 is discontinued and will now be a 109bhp, close enough though. Will come with the new VW AI system on the headunit as well. I am trying to get a demo van so maybe meet up somewhere to show you. Will be in contact. Multivan California is stunning. Seen it in the flesh and you won't be disappointed.

probably Mercedes Vito next then... my T6 has been great but VW garages have been properly appalling.
also, there is only so much you can do to fix the general esthetic and corner cutting of the manufacturer. lowering the suspension and putting big wheels does nothing for it.

I think it looks ok but a few concerns, have Ford upped their build quality or have VW lowered their standards? this goes to parts being bolted on too. If the quality is there, this could be a positive for the VW community when coming to buying\replacing parts, pop down to your local Ford dealer and pick up equivalent parts for potentially lot less money.
Still think it's going to have a difficult time being excepted by the VDub community though.

Huge mistake, especially if they used the Ford engine, won't be buying one
