I will neither confirm nor deny sailing the seven seas. With that said, I built a dual xeon 4U 20 bay beast whose sole purpose is to function as my media server. I run emby and my whole setup is behind cloudflair so only I can access my media from outside my home. Ripping my disc collection is going to take a while but well worth it.

If you buy physical media. YOu would need a lot of storage and hdds are kind of expensive at some point its better to just pay streaming.

It's always prudent to have a backup plan for one's treasured DVD collection. There's nothing on the streaming services I like anyway.

Can I set up a jellyfin server to be accessed remotely, like netflix or other streaming services?

Yes this sound like a great idea but not everyone has the money to make something like this and isnt good with computers and the software use for backing up movies can be out of support
