Recently I've just been in such a need for time off without like a single plan or time to keep. So I try to have at least one day a week where I don’t have to do anything.

My reset day is Sunday. The other six days of the week I am busy but on Sundays I slow right down. I ease into the day by taking my coffee back to bed and reading for an hour or so before I get up. Then I take my dog for a long leisurely walk somewhere different. I live in a little village by the sea. My morning dog walks are always picturesque. But on Sunday we leave the village for our walk, which is always longer and slower. I have family in London so visit regularly and Greenwich Park is a lovely weekend walk. Although my location couldn't be more different to yours our slow weekend routines aren't so very different at all

I never really thought about it, but I didn’t realize that authors have to leave quotes on other authors books. Like, I’ve noticed the quotes before on books but I never thought about it

And I feel the same way about disturbing - brutal classics. I’m a bookseller and I find it difficult to recommend classics and fiction books that are not too tough, but still enjoyable and good quality writing…

Here’s my list:

Classics :
• Peter Pan. You should definitely check this out if you love Kensington Gardens! It is so underrated and yet one of the most poetic and liberating classics of all time. And it is NOT just for children.😂

• Harper Lee, everything

• The Finzi-Contini Garden, a beautiful summery story settled in Italy.

For more contemporary / non classic books:
• Lauren Weisberger, the Evil wears Prada -nothing else to say

•Etgar Keret, Seven years of happiness. It deals with difficult subjects, but in a very positive and funny way

• check also the Greek femal author Alki Zei, for some Mediterrranean calm.
