Note for everyone about bit depth: you will never be able to tell the difference between 10, 12 and 14 bit raw video. However, higher bit depth footage always has more potential for grading.

Hey Zeek, one thing I noticed in this last ML depository is that if you want to record a quick MOV file by disabling RAW VIDEO, It doesn't record sound, the way around this for those who want quick small files but having the magic lantern Zebras and Focus Peaking is to set the framerate to 25 and in post make sure you disable video resample so you can render 24 or 23.97 fos with sound, bug I found

This video is aging VERY gracefully. Special thanks Zeek, in June 2023 this was the easiest package to install and configure. Performance is good and the software is pretty darned stable. If a person grabs even a much later tutorial from YouTube the software described rarely matches the build from the ML website at all these days.

Might I suggest that you move the final update, the link to the Feb 26th build, up to be the very first thing in the description?

And while I am pretty sure nobody is going to read this comment that is good because I am now confused by your pinned comment which I have not read yet. My third tab has no "Custom Functions" item, and is the link to the June 26th? All I know is that my v. June 26 camera matches your tutorial perfectly and has been a great performer for a while now while I am looking for my next build/tutorial combo to risk.

So here is my thought: ML has been in development for a really long time and as a result the social media, documentation and sources are all really krufty. As a result I think I will buy a new sd card before I try and move on to the recent builds like Crop Mood stuff. I hope that my camera will switch back and forth easily between versions by swapping cards. If that doesn't work I'm going to put out some Facebook messages looking for somebody abandoning their EOS project who will sell a body off cheap and just own two. We're dirt poor here so hopefully the card idea works ;-)

This is the best Zeek. Watching this video I am learning and finally getting my ML EOS M Camera to do what it does. I realized my canon menu settings were wrong, in the Eos M Canon menus, like making sure MF and 1/50 shutter are set, and that was why having troubles in learning this, Now I understand, and can duplicate what you are doing on the screen. Hi Zeek, (or anybody else able to give some help). As far as I am concerned you must be the ML master on youtube. I love your videos. I have been able to buy an EOS M and I have bought several SD cards but without any luck yet. The camera starts dropping frames and just quits after 5 seconds (before 8). This camera must be a gem but so far the journey has been rather disappoiting. I seem to be missing some of the options you are showing. Any tips would be appreciated.

Zeek, I've been using eos m for one year, using your guides and I thought that footage I get is just stunning but after I sold all my eos m and 5d m2 gear and bought Nikon z6 and took first video I was shocked(by the way try to watch your previous video on a big 4k tv, u put to much sharpening 🙂) . Nikon z6 makes down sampling the same as Sony A7 III and a7c from 6k to 4k and has 144mbit/s bit rate, good fast autofocus. Of course it's only 8bit but when I compare footage with eos m and 5m2 this is just day and night. Maybe I can't push colors so far as I was able to do that on eos m but i can get similar results if I adjust white balance property and know how to work with picture profiles and post editing. After all I can say that eos m for real enthusiasts and hard workers with steel nerves and still it can be only good for it's price. But when u get some top end recent camera u feel relief and pleasure from the process of shooting instead of hard wanking.
