How To Add Bebop Embellishments To Your Licks

Bebop is famous for having solos of long 8th note lines and bebop licks are often a lot of notes. But an important part of what makes the lines really beautiful and breaks up the constant flow of 8th notes.

In this video, I am going to go over some great lines from Bebop Masters like Dexter Gordon, Clifford Brown and Sonny Stitt. The way they use embellishments and construct lines is a great resource for learning and enhancing your own playing.

This is so good! I am far from being able to produce melodies over changes, but this is a great window into what is really going on with these great players and inspires me to push in that direction. Also, great to highlight Brown and Stitt - going to give them a listen. Thanks Jens! (BTW, I enjoy your cameo comments on Sean Daniels' channel - definitely adds some class.)

1. Excellent video. 2. I think Sonny Stitt is underappreciated - everything he does that I've heard is amazing 3. Can you give me an example of where Peter Bernstein uses that enclosure?

I would like to hear an explanation about static triplets in Bebop; where and how to use them.
Thanks, Alessandro

What exactly is a target note in the first example (Dextor Gordon) ? I can not follow your explanation "..whenever you have a whole step over the target note..." (~2:09), Thanks in advance for some additional explanation...
