I think the Canon 200d and 200d mark ii are far far better than Nikon D3500.
P.S : it has 4k video capabilities along with eye detection and a articulating display.

I am shooting on the 5D4, but for 2020 I am waiting for the rumoured new Canon R pro model :) the R is an amazing camera, works seamlessly with EF L Series Lenses with the Adaptors, and is cram packed with features like Focus Peaking, But is basically shooting the same images 5DIV has, and while it made the list it was released in 2016, and could get an upgrade, or R replacement

I'm sick and tired of cameras like the D3500 being described as a "beginner's" camera. It is not. Any more than a top of the range Sony is a "professional" camera.There is really only one aspect that matters. It's the photographer, not the camera, that is the "beginner". The rest is convenience, short cuts and "features" that do not produce better core photographs, only the illusion that they do.

Why are DSLRs camera still being made? I thought they'd disappear immediately after digital cameras were invented as they make absolutely no sense in that format. People forget that SLRs originally were invented as a necessary evil simply to enable the TTL (through the lens) viewing. Otherwise, they were inferior in about every optical and mechanical way, and many photographers never used them (Cartier-Bresson is a classic case). Not only the SLR body is heavier, bulkier, more expensive, and less reliable, it also requires lenses with a large distance between their rear element and the image plane to accommodate the mirror. So also larger, heavier, more expensive lenses with inferior performance. The SLR design thus excludes the possibility of using true wide-angle lenses like Biogon, Super Angulon, and Hologon. It must use the reverse-telephoto instead. And then there is the shutter delay (the constant headache of sports photographers), the mirror slap, and - last but not least - the mirror noise. All this just to look through the lens - which is perfectly acceptable as a tradeoff in the film era. But today? We have the TTL viewing in digital cameras, so the very reason for the design is moot. Get rid of that dinosaur design ASAP, it should have been done 20 years ago.

An interesting selection of cameras. As a Nikon user myself, I am very much in agreement with your choices of camera, but with one exception.

The D7500 is NOT a step-up from its' predecessor, the D7200. If I were in the market for the D7500, I would either "save-my-pennies" and go for the D500. Or save some costs and go for a good-quality used 24MPixel D7200 instead.
