Fast-track law bid to quarry protected mountain

Quarrying company J Swap is challenging the QEII covenant that stops it digging into a South Waikato maunga.

So, protected means absolutely nothing‽ The actions of this secretive government will destroy Aotearoa.

If a QE2 covenant cannot save a parcel of land, then there is no point in having any rules of restrictions. So many people have gone through the process of putting a covenant on their land believing they are protecting it for future generations only to realise that they could be betrayed by greedy business and craven politicians.
How is it that the company did not know there was a covenant on the land when they bought it? Are we expected to believe that their lawyer never searched the title?

when they cant take it, they will literally dig it up to the point it has man made lakes 💁🏽‍♂️ it’s happened/happening to us in Papamoa with Fulton Hogan digging up the whenua to make roads and paying less than $1 a tonne for it.

I grew up in this area, i hunted and walked all around this whenua.

To see the destruction that JSWAP and the quarry have caused to our sacred Maunga Weraiti & awa Mangapiko is gut-wrenching and saddening.

Greed has no boundaries and back room deals will be pursued be it legal or illegal along with gifts to those who will help the greedy buggers attain what they are seeking. Years later what is left is a barren waste land which would take thousands of years to recover.
So to whoever is working towards this agenda I say be very careful what you wish for cause your short term monetary gain maybe a curse for your current and future family because you only saw the now and not the future. May you realise now what the future legacy of your current actions may lead to before it's too late.
