Gibson Custom Shop is releasing a Jack White signature model Diddley Bow. Their best luthiers have taken this version apart and meticulously copied each part in perfect detail, right down to the wood grain, level of dirt on the wood, the brand of electrical tape, type of wire, coke bottle, nail rust, etc. They acquired the actual hammer Jack used in this video to craft each instrument. They analyzed this video using the latest software to exactly reproduce the force and velocity and number of hammer blows. They sought out the actual cows and their manure and brought them into the custom shop to have them watch each instrument being skillfully crafted. Each of the 50 limited edition models will be signed by Jack. MSRP $185, 000 - which includes a potato sack gig bag, a DVD documentary on the planning and production of the Bows, and 8 x 10 framed photo of each cow.

What an intro to a brilliant documentary. I loved Jack's whole philosophy of ''nothing truly good ever comes easy to you''. That all good things in life are meant to be acquired through hard work and overcoming diversity. Life should be a constant struggle of human will against the elements, as he so aptly puts it.

There are a lot of people here, who don't understand the message with this intro. The point isn't that gear doesn't matter. The point is that being a musician, isn't something you ´choose´. It's something you're born as. The early blues players in America played homemade drumsets, cheap guitars and out-of-tune harmonicas. They felt a need to express themselves through music. That's the conditions of the musician. He can't help it. He can't not play.

He still uses his upholstery logic of 3s when he made the coke bottle guitar. 3 nails for the string, 3 nails for the amp

I already liked the white stripes, but this scene right here is what made me a Jack White fan.

Me: Mom, can we get a guitar?
Mom: We have a guitar at home.

What he's actually getting at is that you don't need a perfectly made guitar. In the way of Jack White, music is simple.

I hate that people don't understand the metaphore and say "but you need to buy the amp", " but you need to buy the pedal". If you don't understand what he's saying then you have failed as a human
