I still like looking through catalogs (old fashioned, I know) to get outfit ideas. Thank you, Emily.😍

Hi Emily. I am wearing the same tank today - in white. Its fabulous! This summer was a 3-week trip to see my in-laws in the Middle East. I usually arrive completely underdressed b/c everyone dresses a little more formal here and I never could figure out what to bring in my suitcase. But thanks to you and a few other folks on youtube I arrived on this trip with the PERFECT capsule wardrobe. (It only took me 20 years!). Everyone has commented on my effortless yet elegant style. And yet what I am wearing is also super comfy and cool in the summer heat. The trick was picking the right pieces in colors that go together, great but minimal jewelry and scarves, with makeup I enjoy. Thank you thank you thank yoU!

I love this idea! Your channel is my favorite and has gotten me to look into brands I haven’t heard of but have been so impressed by. I’m looking forward to trying this approach. My fear is going through my wardrobe and seeing that I haven’t always been so thoughtful as I’ve started being, and feeling guilty that I have a fair amount of items that no longer suit me. I think less is going to be way more for me and I’ve been able to identify pieces lately that make me feel so good. Keeping a journal will hold me more accountable to let go of what not longer works for me. Thank you!

Thx for all the advice! Everything makes so much sense. I feel so relieved when I pre-style my outfits. Sometimes I stick out of my closed 2-3 outfits for the week and just pick that. I always find we dress better when we do that.

Emily I always return to your channel. Style as you approach it is from the inside out rather than the other way around. That is what sets your whole approach apart. Pure creative self expression is so exciting. Love your minimalist and organised approach too. A huge thank you for all that you bring.

Thanks for this, after self reflection and several quizzes, I'm definitely a classic. Minimalist keeps coming up. I struggled with that as my closet is full with stuff. I'm starting to get comfortable that is minimalist as an aesthetic, not # of pieces in my wardrobe. If I find a piece I really like, I try to find it in multiple colors. In all your style study is there a style type that gravitates to color based on their mood? Some days I really feel "emerald green" other days I'm red or burgundy. If I don't wear the color I am craving, I feel off all day. I've been like this since I was a teen. Otherwise my style exploration says I'm a Classic Minimalist with an Edgy mood.

Very interesting to use philosophy or self help in the area of fashion! Finding your style is really hard and after finding it: to give it a name! After viewing so many videos on the subject: I think I am a "modern classic minimaliste" ( I cannot separate these 3 words!) and my 2 categories of clothes are the casual (chic!) and the more "formal" (smaller portion of my wardrobe)

Just want to say that I'm likely not your target audience (see: 'woman of a certain age' and also 'hates fashion' so lets graduate from 90s flannel all the way to 2000's hoodies. It's our state uniform anyway.) After numerous false fashion starts and failures at creating a capsule wardrobe and defaulting to jeans and hoodies YET AGAIN.. I'm watching your videos and actually getting some ideas on how to use stuff I like (jeans/t-shirts, casual, and easy) into being intentional about it and upgrading into something that might make me a presentable human being. (Not always easy post-covid.)

So, thanks much, and keep up the videos. They are awesome.

I love James Clear’s philosophy my problem is where and how do we find out a list of style types? Lots of different “stylists” have different terms for them, I went down a rabbit hole of the Kibbe style types once, it made no sense to me, I couldn’t identify which I was. I do really struggle to fit myself into something and tend to copy the style of friends and folk I see in the media but that doesn’t always suit me because it’s their style and not mine. My wardrobe is a jumble of a million different things and have no real idea what is really me? I know what colours and prints I like but how to put different styles of garments together is super tricky, although I think I know the cuts and shapes that seem to suit me best and what definitely doesn’t?

I think people in urban areas should research more their home grown local designers… here in Montreal we have a very good variety of local designers (mostly women) because they designed, make and sell they’re clothes locally, they don’t do volume only small collection (summer and winter) and they’re “model” usually are themselves because who is better then them to represent the “ brand” you will find someone that not only have the same taste but also have the same “built” (aka petite, short torso, etc) and that will just happened to be a good fit for you! I have several brand on my radar and each season i will by a couple of piece ( sometimes full price because i just fall in love with a certain piece but most of the time I will wait for they’re atelier sale and buy clothing at the fraction of the price) and 1) i know what I’m buying 2) I know it will fit me right 3) I’m also by default buying sustainable clothing and 4) it’s not more expensive then high street brand and they don’t push me 4 to 6 collection a year 5) you also grow with the brand, sometimes it’s apart (that’s ok) it’s funny how in your 20’s and now in my 40’s my favourite designers make looser, roomier clothing piece hahaha

Where do we find a list of the personal styles/types from which we base our research?
