In this video, Ford are making BIG moves, setting up their eventual transitions to a fully electric business, making ONLY electric vehicles. Their plan? Let the ICE business collapse (go bankrupt), spin out their EV business and hopefully, maybe, possible survive. Ford is the #1 EV maker in the US and probably stand the best chance of surviving the transition but STILL, it does NOT look pretty.

Ford needs to focus on developing telescopes, so that they can see Tesla.

Imagine how hard it is to explain in a positive way how perilous position your company is in. He's doing a decent enough job, the easily led may buy it.

Besides the fact that you can hire Tesla employees to solve your problem, there is a factor called 'CULTURE' at a company. You can have the Tesla employees but if you don't have the same company culture, you're losing, twice. IMO.

In the words matter department I found it important that the Ford CFO said that the ICE business is “a growth business for the next couple of years”. What he didn’t say was that after that it falls off a cliff. But it’s easy to read that in if you are paying attention.

If Ford really wanted to convince me they were confident in their EV goals, they'd announce their next gen vehicles using the NACS proving they're not afraid to follow Tesla on better tech to make it.

I think Ford, is actually looking at, and is being honest, at least internally, with the gravity of the situation. Good for them! They might survive, but they might not, because of waiting so long to make this move. If they don't survive, they'll be last to die.

Kudos to Ford for being so open and honest about where they are. I dont see the other OEMs releasing this data. My money stays in Tesla. Still, godspeed Ford!

First of all, lots of great points. One thing to add which I’m sure you knew is that Ford along with the other legacy automakers go through dealerships which even add more cost compared to Tesla direct sales. They need to rethink dealerships which Ford may even be considering for their ev lineup.

Amazing what giant leaps the likes of Ford, GM, Toyota and VW suddenly are able to do within the next couple of years .. Almost criminal to their stockholders that they kept all this massive potential back all those years ..

Did Ford discuss specifics about how they will decrease costs? Tesla execs talked about how they'll build a car, removing rare earth materials, use 48 volt, etc. but I don't think I've ever heard Ford or another car company talk about something similar.

I will be picking up my M3P from Tesla replacing my 2019 Ram 1500 Classic that get average 15 mpg. I put 20 gallons at Costco this morning at $3.25 for the last time. The Tesla M3P gets 118 mpgE on streets. So… 20gal x 15mpg = 300 mile for $66 bucks for ICE. So this 20 galions of gas cost x 118mpg = 2360 miles for the Tesla. I will Tesla Wall Charge at home charge in Indiana with 11 kWh at 10 to 12 cent per kWh. That is roughly 44 miles per hour on Wall Charger. What to you think….?

From a recruiting point of view: Tesla can (& does) allow employees to move between auto, space, robotics, & AI pretty much at will. That's actually a huge attraction for many. Especially for the best.

I give credit to Ford and I am rooting for them. Will I invest in their stock? Hell no. Do I want them to come out on the other end in tact, making the transition to EV’s? Absolutely!

The bell weather on who is most likely to survive is who gets to 48 volt 2nd (After Tesla with the cybertruck). This will prove they have the will to make radical enough changes.
