Better than brand new, they're broken in just the way you love them.

If you want to know why barely anyone bothers to fix broken shoes anymore... it's not just because most people buy cheap shoes "not worth fixing", those who do buy shoes that would definitely be worth fixing can't find anyone anymore who can fix them. At least in Germany it has become increasingly difficult to find a shoemaker – because there's not enough business for them to make a profit (while also paying their bills) because so many people buy cheap shoes that will just be tossed when they start to break. Fast fashion killed shoe repairs.

The reason no one has their shoes repaired is because there is almost no one left so is able to do it for you, or if they exist, it's extremely expensive.
You are in possession of an amazing skill, wish there were more people out there like you 👏

Not ruined... very VERY well loved! Had my favorite leather boots resoled twice in 10 years. Love watching real artisans showing their skills ❤️

The thing is, it's difficult to find people who do repairs this well. Last time I took my boots to get the heels replaced, they butchered them. They put in a heel rubber base that just wasn't matching the shape of the heel, didn't even bother trying to cut it to shape and I just ended up discarding them.

In the name of sustainability, I would love to own quality products that I know I can keep in good shape if I bring them to a professional like yourself. I would love to pay for that kind of service, but sometimes it's just impossible to find it.

I wish there was someone in my area that fixes shoes. It really is an undervalued skill.

As a little girl I remember going with my Mom to the shoe repair shop and he would make our shoes new again. Your craft is hard to find these days. Loved watching your video, it brought back good memories!

Gorgeous work, my friend. I'm a journeyman luthier myself, and absolutely love seeing someone with skill in a craft actually plying their trade.

My grandma used to say “Buy a good pair of shoes & a good bed, because if you’re not in one you’re in the other” 😊

Growing up in the 60s, shoe repair was on every other street corner. Now that profession is down to where is one located ? I salute you, your skills need to be passed on... the jobs that inspired and built the backbone of America !

You do amazing work for not much money compared to the materials and hours you spend repairing these broken shoes and boots. The volume of work that you have and the quality you put out would certainly warrant at least a small price increase. Supply and demand. You are blessed doing something you obviously love and seeing the smiles on your clients faces has to be rewarding. Thank you for what you do!

In Germany the profession of shoemaker is almost extinct. Almost no one has their shoes repaired anymore. I would have liked to have mine repaired, but the price would have been so high that I could also buy new boots. But I have to honestly say that the quality of the goods today is no longer the same as it used to be. Boots that used to last me 3 to 5 years now only last a maximum of 2 years. The leather is thinner, the fabric is thinner. It's a pity. People used to be much more sustainable than they are today. Just keep it up, at some point people will change their minds and then seamstresses and shoemakers will be in demand again.

Great video… being a show repair or cobbler is a lost art and solid profession. We need to get back to appreciating and using these talented folks. 🎉

My uncle used to be a cobbler - i loved the smell of his workshop and watch him repair shoes. He even repaired my riding boots. Such a wonderful craft

A master of a lost craft. Beautiful.
Need to teach before this is all forgotten.

I prefer to have repaired but it’s hard to find boot repairers that will repair the same heels you are repairing here. I took my boots to 6 repairers and was told they couldn’t be repaired but here you are doing what I needed. I wish all repairers would do the work you do.

I walk just like that girl! If there was a great shoe repair guy like you near me I would TOTALLY have my shoes repaired! It's a lost art. Kudos to you!
