If you had a push/pull volume pot is there a way that you could use it to change the default state of the kill switch? As in, when the knob is pushed in the killswitch is passing the signal until pressed, but when pulled out the killswitch is killing the signal until pressed down?

Not any momentary switch, you need a normally open momentary switch
