It's important to note that the 48.6% is only for those with high salaries since it's an incremental tax system (the rich often end up paying less anyway when they get their tax returns and use loopholes lol). Also yes, the U.S. is much larger but I still think it's important to learn from and implement systems that work in countries with a better quality of life such as the Netherlands. Anyways, my opinion is just that taxes are only bad if you and the general public gets nothing substantial back from them. Ya'll are free to disagree tho! Much love

Netherlands is also a small nation compared to the US. The US is also 50 states with different governments trying to function under a federal government union. Way more complicated than the Netherlands. Our public servants are also assholes and greedy AF and don’t use taxes effectively. So no, I don’t want to pay 48%

The US is a big place. So of course there are going to be messed up roads. Just draw a DIK on the potholes with chaulk enough times, and the city will fix it. LoL

Nah, you really don't get a lot back for your taxes. And then you bring up sales tax... Which is a WHOPPING 21% in the Netherlands, 9.98% is something they can only dream of. Public transport? It's just as nasty as it is in the states. Roads? Unless something changed in the last 15 years there are some pretty crap roads down there. Education? Got the US beat there for sure. But that is because the government over here is dumb AF and started to guarantee the loans which only served to inflate the costs.

The Netherlands is just a tiny country compared to the US.
I noticed he also glossed over the fact that the US is paying for their protection so they have more money for their infrastructure and Healthcare.
We would have a lot more money for our infrastructure if we didn't spend billions protecting Europe.

The Netherlands has half the population of California, and none of the responsibility on the world stage that America has. The Netherlands also doesnt have 50 state governments that may or may not mismanage the local infrastructure. We are also not well suited for public transportation, it works in the cities, but America is fucking huge, and public transportation is inefficient across the majority of the country where hundreds of miles of nothingness is common.

I am your neighbor so to speak and I am not sure I can agree with that. We europeans pay way too much. The quality of what we get back is decreasing every year while the governmental spending is ever increasing. I wouldn't mind paying more than americans for free infrastructure in return but things are getting critical, at least here in germany.
