How to: Upgrade to LED city (side/parking) lights, VW Golf

Показать описание
Upgrading a Volkswagen Golf with halogen lights to LED side (position) lights - how to get at the old bulbs to replace them, and how to code out the bulb-out error the LEDs will generate.

You will need:
* Long nose pliers (maybe)
* T10 / 501 / W5W replacement white LEDs
* VW compatible scan tool such as OBDeleven or VAG-COM/VCDS

(Using the above Amazon links will help support my channel and is appreciated!)

Looks good, I tried clearing fault code with OBDeleven as per the steps suggested in VW Jetta but it didn’t work for me . Can you please advise for any alternative steps to longcode with OBD eleven to clear out the fault codes .

Great video. Clear, straight to the point and well explained. I simply can't understand the dislikes.

There's even less room on the Canadian (and presumably USDM) 2.0L TDI. The airbox on the left side and the Fuel Filter on the right side make it virtually impossible to get pliers in there.

I think I have to remove the bumper to pull the headlight housings off.

Looks good! I wish my GTO used mini bulbs like that instead of a resistor path for the standard low beam bulb.

One issue with these - The LED only as a plastic housing, and it's only a couple of inches away from the high beam lamp.
The high beam lamps get very hot, so can easily melt the plastic casing of the LED.

One solution I found was to use the flat-faced COB style LED bulbs, so they're almost flush with the reflector, and don't have a 'line of sight' to the high beam lamp.

Hi Craig, 100% working! Thanks!
Do you know also the code for disable the fault check (bulb out warning) on low/high beam on MK6?

Hey Craig, does that coding work for the headlights too? I have LED headlights and I have the same warning on the dash.

On VCDS it must be unchecked the option?

Sadly Byte 27 Bit 02 did not get rid of the error message for me.
2011 Golf VI Variant (Wagon) Highline, german version with halogen lamps.
I did use the Osram Bulbs.

If someone could fix the issue, let me know :D
I ll keep trying a bit more though.

Nice guide though, was worth a try.
These OEM bulbs look horrible next to LED H7s.
