Rory McIlroy misses HUGE putt to LOSE U.S. Open

That was a downhill snapper. Extremely tough putt after 71 holes of fierce competition.

He played for it to break, it just happened to break more than he expected. He played it off the left edge and it still broke all the way across the hole. Not easy.

The markings on the ball indicate it was a good strike of the ball, just a bad read of the break in the green which caused the ball to make a sharp right turn just after in came off the face. That much break that close to a hole on the final hole of the US Open is just the USGA’s way of reminding the players “we’ve got you by the balls boys”.

I have seen so many insults about Rory missing that putt. I thought he played just the right amount of break. It just needed a little more speed, which you don't want to do incase you miss. You can't blame Rory for that miss.

That's rhe easiest short put to miss.Speed verses break.He hit a good put.A blade of grass can throw it off.If you firm it in there you might have one coming back.

That's a tough putt whether your a professional or not, it's easy for people to say he choked but they're not the ones under pressure. There are lots of different factors happening in that putt and different ways to play it. He just happened to miss it. I've had many similar putts to this, some successful, some not and I bet many saying he choked have too.
