Welcome to Malaysia. There's nothing inherently wrong with Jalan Alor but since its in the heart of KL and its very touristy the prices are higher and of course it wouldn't be the best iteration of what you could get. Nonetheless it's a good starting point. As a suggestion you might want to check out Genting Highlands. There's a pretty decent theme park that your daughter might enjoy and since it's atop a mountain it's nice and cool as well. Enjoy your stay!

When I travel around europe few years back 1 simple pack lunch with soda drink cost me €12. In Malaysia that amount enough meals for persons.

Jalan Alor is a bit pricier because its cater for tourist and the taste is more palatable with them, local usually go to Mamak restaurant (Indian Muslim)or food court (mixture of all race), night market (pasar malam)the price almost cut in half than Jalan Alor, the good thing its all in one area where you can enjoy all the food around the world.if you ask around there's plenty hidden gem eateries around KL with cheaper budget.You can also order online at food panda or grabfood if you're tired walking around lol.mind you as Malaysian, we eat 24hours :). do enjoy other delicacies in Malaysia and happy eating

Why so many tourist so anthusiast about Jalan Alor? That is the first things pop out when you google about Malaysian food spot? Its just a tourist trap...in fact the vendor there mostly immigrant & they gonna rip you off...locals dont go to this shit place...if you guys still in Malaysia check out Night Market at Jalan TAR...every Saturday evening until 10 at night...

Oh PLEASE not another jalan alor video! It's soooo overrated and already seen in hundreds of boring videos. This infamous tourist trap was a seedy brothel area (and only if you look deeper, it really still is) with rats running around (human and the four legged kind). Be original for once and look elsewhere that is more sanitized, both in hygiene and reputation wise.
