Every LOTR fan that I know adores the "You shall not pass" line, and while it is epic and very good, I adore the solemn quotes like "Why Bilbo Baggins? Perhaps it is because I am afraid and he gives me courage" and "Death is another Path, one that we all must take." But I tear up when Frodo remembers Gandalf at the River at Amon Hen with, "I wish I never had the ring, I wish none of this had ever happened." And then Gandalf says " So do all who live to see such times but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us." Gets me every goddamn time

The fact that Gandalf is a powerful Istari, basically an angel sent down to Middle Earth, and his acts are more discreet and touching, like comforting a young man who afraid of dying (#3 on this list) gets me everytime
