Apec and Asean are arguably Asia’s most important meetings of heads of state to discuss economic and security matters affecting the region. Ahead of the annual gathering in November, the Post’s senior Asia reporter Dewey Sim explains why the 2022 meeting will be grappling with even more pressing issues, in particular the ongoing unrest in Myanmar following the military coup there and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Even tough other ASEAN countries give an emphasized concern to Myanmar, as long as Thailand still give them much of leeway I don't think the Junta will make any move. Myanmar is like Thailand's beloved little sister...

Soaring inflation due to US fed hiking rate affecting FX rate, Ukraine's conflict is mainly about western hegemony vs Russia which Asia has no part to play. Real issue is US militarising for a war in Asia.

Aseans should help each others despite reluctant each other interest, hope ASEANs it will be like Europeans connecting each others and one passport needed....
It's right not to interfere internal issues, like in the Philippines we had martial laws, rise of insurgencies, poverty. From rich to poorest..
Now we been bullied by our neighbors...
Indonesia, Thailand and Myanmar is slowing economy and needed to elevate by its neighbours of Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines and Vietnam has rapid growth and strong economy...
What happened in Myanmar the same what happened in the Philippines in the past, so anticipate the worse scenario because of insurgencies, political turmoil, poverty and sanctions..
What if they have to change the leader, not the general, not the past leader, Let the citizens decide...
Don't rely on china and American, we have to stand up and help each other growths, ASEANs has so many billionaires, I think we ASEANs can make it..

Lot of more pressing important issues than frikin myanmar who held no important position in the region or the world. First we need to build fertilizer factories around ASEAN, second we need to find a way to plant wheat in ASEAN, third we need to build animal farms around ASEAN, fourth we need to discuss about Timor Leste's proposal of integration to ASEAN.
