I just could not imagine Dodger's baseball without Vin Scully. He was doing play-by-play in Brooklyn the year I was born, in 1950, and he has been such an inspiration to me, as a baseball and Dodger fan, than I can't even put it into words...; not just for his brilliant work behind the microphone and his knowledge and love of the game but for the wonderful and caring human being that he has always been. Thank you, Vinnie, for a lifetime of unforgettable baseball memories!

I saw Vin at a hardware store in Pacific Palisades. I heard his voice talking to the checkout person and it was unmistakable. He is a regular there and everyone was smiling. After he checked out he stood outside leaning on a newspaper vending machine waiting for people to approach him. I did not talk to him, but wish I did. I could tell he is a really good man just by the reaction of the workers and the way he stood outside waiting for people to say hello.

This is a great interview. Nice job! I'm jealous you have got to meet him.

A class act. Far and away the best baseball announcer of all time.

While practicing with my high school basketball team at Palisades rec. From behind I heard a familiar voice ask me why we were practicing at the park instead of at the high school. It was Vinny. He was interested in what my team was doing. To then, that moment was close to the top of my list, having been a Dodger fan from Brooklyn days. I suppose I ought to mention that this chat took place in the Fall of 1961. We had to practice at the park because the Pali gym was still under construction.

I'm a Giants and A's fan but the day Vin Scully dies will be one of the saddest in baseball history !

if Walter O'Malley would have been stopped from moving the Dodgers out of Brooklyn back in 1957,   there's a good chance that Dean Spanos wouldn't have been able to move the Chargers out of San Diego in the present.
