Learn how process learning can boost motivation and mastery, in this 2:16 minute video lesson.

Has anyone ever told you that you need to have a clear goal in order to achieve something or get better? According to Process learning, the opposite is true. The best surfers are not those that train to win a prize, but those that play with the waves every day because they love it. Process Learning argues that to get better at something, focus on the process of learning and not the outcome, the product.

The desire to meet an academic goal, leads us to fail or be discouraged by learning. It is better to approach learning in a procedural way to achieve meaningful learning in the long term

this is what i always do but people tell me that it s too chaotic... i do it anyway because i function better without having a to do list or a specific chapter to revise. It s not point for me to make a schedule: all i keep in mind is that the day shall not end without me studying for at least 30 minutes..when i do it, that depends on my mood hehe.
If you re more on the improvising side, liking to keep options open, this method is the best for you! :)

I am a musician and this makes so much sense! I can hardly make significant progress in a day to show for but as long as I do more repetitions of this cycle I see growth over a period of time. Thank you for articulating it :)

The best way of learning is by repetition so I agree with you that is better to study 30 min a day than 5 hours a week but generally if you want to learn sth quickly do learn everyday as much as you can and make it interesting for example as a rewarding for yourself after study for 30 min eat a bar of chocolate or whatever you like and what is important keep being focused on doing a task

I did not realized I do that when I am reading. I have a goal to read for 30 minutes in the morning, 30 in the afternoon and more or less the same in the night. I am motivated to read next time and I read a lot!! Thank you for these videos, they give us many great ideas.

I had been using this technique frequently without even being aware of it. It really does keep one motivated and fastens learning 'naturally' rather than forcefully

I was always told to set a goal beforehand during exams nad I couldn't get up until I reached it. Then, I just studied to complete the goal not for learning it and if I set one for myself I never reached it. But this method is so much more efficient. Thank you so much

i think this will also help with procrastination because you don't have the pressure to complete it. i read this from barbara oakley's a mind for numbers, where she says that one of the ways to combat procrastination is to use the pomodoro technique(i think you know this) while focusing in the process. though i'm still procrastinating haha

It seems like it is a commentary on the feedback advantages from rapid iterative prototyping as applied to learning a new skill. Being in software, I like this example.

This is so true, especially in the case of learning instruments.
