The interesting part here is that it seems like nonstate actors are rapidly acquiring the technology to stabilize countries far beyond their own borders.

Non-state actors sponsored by state actors.

The Houthis aren’t really a nonstate actor, but are the government of most of Yemen. They control 1/3 of the land, but that land has over 70% of the country’s population. The current area they hold is very similar to the country of North Yemen that existed until Yemeni unification in 1990.

Hobby RC aircraft have been able to fly waypoints autonomously for many years for not a lot of money. Have a look at the Ardupilot project, as far as I remember, it's all open source.

“ a drone was fired” Say Iran without saying Iran…..

I know everyone is mentioning state actors which is very reasonable and probably correct. But this is doable with a few smart people and maby $100, 000. Remember a raspberry pi cost less than $100, a Nvidia Jetson compute module cost less than $1, 000 and can run an autonomous car. This sort of thing is now in the realm of a few college students and off the shelf parts.
I wouldn't be surprised if we find out later that the Ukrainian AI drone program started as a Nvidia Jetson compute module and OSS code base.

Brilliant piece/point -thank you for better informing us in this matter 🙏.

Serious question. What kind of battery/fuel capacity propels a drone to fly 1200 miles? Is that even possible?

Thank you for still doing these videos. I thought life got ya in some way or another (good or bad). Your videos keep me up to date and inform me a LOT.

Pretty sure Shaheds and others have been using non-linear routes as well.

Preprogrammed flight under radar elevation wouldn’t be detected most likely. It would be an observable that only makes it to threat response if enough people report it on social media.

ardupilot is an open source rc program that allows for autonomous flight such as way point missions or as a loiter munition

The local media reported that the IDF tracked the drone for 6 minutes and decided to label it as friendly.

Soon Israel is not going to know where is the drones coming from

I just woke up listening to this interesting and important but all I can think is your hair looks good. 😂

I've been watching people on the YouTubes make drone videos with waypoints for several years now

That's an absolutely insane distance. A quick google says that for a prop-drone to go that far, even a military one, it'd have to be using *jet fuel*. Hey Ryan. Can you do a video on who makes the kind of drones that are that good (there can't be that many manufacturers surely?) and sells them to places where they end up with non-state actors?

Hey Ryan, that's hobbie level tech there. When I was still building my own about a decade ago, you could use off the shelf GPS boards and Arduino to set up autonomous flight via waypoints.

'Yaffa' means beautiful in Hebrew, not in Arabic.

'Yaffa' is the Arabic name for Jaffa, which lies just south of Tel Aviv, and is populated mainly by Arabs.
This is why this name was chosen for the drone aimed at Tel Aviv.

And I tend to agree with the other person who commented earlier writing that the drone might have been launched from a boat in the Mediterranean Sea, and not from Yemen.

You were wrong about the drone guy, " talking about drones looking for radiation, , " he explains it very clear on the PBD podcast
