Brilliant....so so many fuse tap you tube videos go through how to hardwire dashcams only to just bung in the fusetap to the fuse box anyway around and never checking which is the "hot" side which is a very important part of the installation..wish everyone would make people aware of the importance of this..thumbs up from me mate..👍👍

Could I put a 30 in a 30? I’m adding a power window kit to my truck and the only way to wire it is to my wiper fuse. I want to use a tap but I’m not sure about that, and I also really want my fuse box to still close since it’s right there when you open the door.

I was curious what would be the downside of having 2 equal fuses in the tap. Like both of them would be a 10 amp or both be 15 amp.

Exactly the answer I was looking for!
I needed to know if I had to match the amperage that I was going to draw for my dash cam as the feed from the fuse box (5a fuse to use add a circuit to 5a for dashcam) but just like a house circuit it is all about the load and how much will be drawn from it.

So, my dash cam has a 5a fuse so I should choose a 15-20a fuse site from the vehicle.

I don’t understand why the added fuse must be at or lower than the original fuse rating. The new load isn’t using the original fuse in any way. This device just adds another receptical to the fuse block. Please explain.

Ohhh i see. So i installed 2 gauges in my vehicle using a 15amp fuse slot and the gauges work but my accessory slot no longer works to use a radar or charge phone. It's because I didn't add a fuse and only used the existing fuse from the circuit. So I should add a 10amp fuse to the top, leave the 15amp original fuse in the bottom and my 12v accessory socket should work again? Or can I add another 15 amp? Pretty sure I would need to run two 15 amp fuses because the original fuse I used was 15 right? This stuff is confusing lol. I just want to be able to run my two .5v gauges and have access to my accessory/cigarette socket at the same time.
