How many colleges should you apply to? The College Board recommends only 5-8. But what about 20? 50? 100? Increasingly, students are applying to a large number of schools to maximize their chances of admission to a prestigious one, a phenomenon known as shotgunning. But does it work? In this video, we will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of applying to a large number of schools, to help you determine what the right number is for you.

The common app has a limit of 20 schools and most prestiqous schools don't have there own admission application outside of the common app, the only one that comes to mind is MIT

I might apply to 15 colleges. It depends on what score I would get on the SAT. By the way, do you also check applications and essays?
