Today we're going to be sharing my honest opinions about 3 popular lawn care software platforms out there to help you guys grow your business in 2020. There's tons of options when it comes to ways to manage your back end business, so without further delay, I wanted to make an updated 2020 video on this topic!

Most of you guys have seen or heard about the 4 biggest players in lawn and landscaping when it comes to software options, that being Jobber, Yardbook, and LMN, and Service Autopilot.

Now to be 100% transparent, we're partnered up with Yardbook as they're what powers my actual business, but the other guys pack a punch as well. There's no one pulling strings behind the scenes with me making this video today. I wanted to weigh in honestly how I feel about the 3 different CRM's and what they mean for you as you grow your lawn care business.

You guys have heard me share my thoughts on these 3 different softwares, so I'd love to hear your guys thoughts as well. What do you guys use to manage and grow your lawn care business?

Do you guys use any of these 3 software programs, or do you guys use something entirely different? Whether you're running $5,000 a month in sales or a half a million, I think Yardbook is still your overall best bet. Where you go and graduate from there is entirely up to you, but the bottom line is always this: I wish you nothing but the best on growing your business and crushing it this upcoming season!

My take on the processing fee - add it into your normal pricing and don't itemize it as a separate cost. Clients will pay $48 for a yard when it's quoted as $48, but they'll be upset and complain if they pay $48 for a "$45 yard" with a $3 convenience fee attached.

Thank you so much for making this video! I hear several people mention Yardbook so I looked it up and think it is going to save so much time for my startup!

I started out with SAP and switched to Yardbook about 5 years ago. I use the paid version because it's cheaper than paying the additional 1% processing fee on credit cards.

Started my business in 2020 & went with yardbook right out of the gate...I used square last yr and the 3.6% fee hit me in the pocket hard this yr I plan to drop square and switch to stripe with yard book and just link up accts. again thanks for the content with out you Johnny Keith or any of the other big guys we wouldn't be able to learn half the shit we do. thank you again

Been using Yardbooks for 3 years. Last year went to pay online and enabled the tip. Processings fees were about 1100 bucks. Received over 700 in tips. Thats why I dont require them to "store" a card on file. Tips really helped

Totally agree, you need a serious enterprise to be paying $300 a month for a CRM. For a smaller company you could be putting that into your equipment or advertising for a much better return. New mower, truck payment, exactly. I concur!

Another thought on the fees is to split the cost with your customers, it's a convenience for both sides.

Awesome video. Just got Yardbook last week and loved it. Just watched your video and love it more!! Thanks for putting this info out there. Really helped a guy just getting into this business part-time from the golf course industry. Thanks again!!

I'm using the free version of Yardbook at this time. Can't really justify jumping to Jobber, especially since I'm just a solo operator doing lawn care on the side until it becomes successful enough to allow me to transition.

I tried using Service Auto Pilot however they were expensive and they had so many add on fees to make it work the way I wanted. For example $25 extra a month just to sync with quickbooks, $47 a month for smart maps etc. I wish they had something less expensive for small businesses.

I currently use quickbooks online (simple start) and haven't had any issues. To me, with the addition of QB Time, I'm able to do everything I need, as well as not have to pay for 2 different softwares (one for taxes and one for CRM). I do have an accounting background thought so that might also be why I'm drawn to it more than others

I use yard book, I heard of it from your channel, so a big thanks! It's great for customer info, making and printing routes and invoices. I use only the free version. I was having trouble keeping track of 20-30 customers before I went to yard book. On another note, I got my Club Cadet out of storage today, it felt great to just start it up!

I have used Yardbooks and Jobber for 2-3 seasons a piece. They are very very similar in their features, I would say they are 90% the same. I used Jobber and paid for a couple years, saw Yardbooks and switched to free, then upgraded to pay version of Yardbooks as they changed stuff and I ended up paying the same as Jobber. Considered going back to Jobber but their price went up 35-40% so I just stuck with Yardbooks

I use Quickbooks but its integrated with Tsheets for time tracking. Works great for keeping track of employees.

I think that if you're going to require all clients to have a credit card on file and then payment comes off those cards, you should not add a "$3 convenience fee." The credit card on file trade-offs for bypassing a net 15 is:
1. you receive ALL your money immediately without having paper invoicing and mailing costs plus time in this process (paper, ink, envelopes, postage, etc.)
2. you eliminate having to hunt down pat due accounts (time spent, time is money)
3. you eliminate putting together bank deposits and bank runs for deposits (time spent, time is money)
4. occasionally dealing with that bad client who you must put into collections and only receiving 50 cents on the dollar once it is collected if ever.
If you calculated all the time you spent invoice prior to the credit card on file system you have in place now, I would guess you're coming out more than $5000 ahead. Just bump all services rates accordingly to cover this cost, that is what we are doing moving forward with ALL new clients. If a client questions the rate(s), I use your's, Keith's (Landscape Employee Trap), and Johnathan's (Florida Turf Pros) overall business moto summed up as...Higher Quality = Higher Rates, and we tell clients something along the lines of "What sets us apart from other companies is LawnScapes of Billings always strive for our services to bring value and peace of mind to you and your property...that is why our rates might seem higher." I'm in Billings MT and I watch your videos. You have great insight, but I think this fee is a misstep. Love your channel, it has helped to bring us to where we are today!

My company uses SAP. We love it due to the detail that you can put into it to really know your costs and overhead and really know where youre winning and losing. We have 2 crews running and do alot of projects in the winter season! We bill out about 400k a year so its really worth it!

Using the free version of Yardbook. It's OK, but their navigation and settings is a cluttered mess. Really want to use Service Autopilot once I start generating revenue.
