if you have a handsaw, you can basically use it for any joint, just add 1 mm to your calculations if you want a clean edge, and trim that mm off with a chisel

The most commonly used saw in my shop is a little 7.25 inch Irwin pull detail saw.

Thanks, James! I was getting ready to ask you a very similar question, but you’ve just answered it: sash saw! Thanks again, bro!

I’m glad I saw this saw info, just wondering if anyone else saw this saw.

Its funny watching these videos as someone who does gardening and landscaping work, because every time I see a saw like that I think of how much of a nightmare those are when cutting green wood, which I have had to use one for before. Its wild how many different saws there are for different jobs.

I'm at a comfort where I have a bunch of different saws with it's own uses and so I use them all but if I have to eliminate them all down to one I think a tenon saw is the most versatile in terms of joinery. I don't do too much ripping down boards in my case. A half back saw would probably be one of the most unique to use but I don't own one or have ever gotten my hands on one but the idea seems like it'd be the most versatile

My most used saw is a 7” ryoba saw. It does most of what I need—until I need to rip or resaw something bigger (wider or longer) than 6”. Then I grab my old Disston 5TPI ripsaw. Cuts wood like buttah.

I almost keeled over and died after the joke at the end. Careful, words are powerful.

The Sash Saw is indeed the 1/2” or 3/8” chisel of the saw world

I'd love to have an old one of yours. With price of course😆. Never seen one in India and it's hard to be an aspiring woodworker 😭

I got a relatively cheap ryoba saw recently and honesty, that's what I would go with.
It's light, decent length, two set of teeth, a handle that is long meaning I can use it with one hand or both, so there's a lot I can do with it.
