I own the 2018 model. Yes it is heavy. Yes it has big bezels. But the build quality of this thing is just amazing. Also the 10 hour battery is a blessing. Two years now and I've never taken the charger to work. Just amazing. I was expecting this year's version had a touchscreen and it is a shame because with the large screen touch capability is really useful. Next year's maybe?

Great laptop, I still like the design, although i can imagine it wouldnt be that hard to make the bottom and side bezels a bit slimmer.. In the end it all comes down to the price, the original mi notebook pro was available for as low as $749 and it was an absolute steal for that price.. this.. for over $1100.. I dont think so. Yes, I get it, this is the top-spec, but even the cheapest one is around $1000(+tax) which makes it not worth buying atm. Thanks for the review Chris, top job as always!

I have the original version and I have to warn that many of the components do not hold up to the quality you would expect from a more premium brand.
For e.g. the fans had not enough grease on them so they started rattling after a few weeks and the battery degraded extremely quickly. After three month it already lost 35% of its original capacity. The very fast charging certainly doesn't help.
You said that the fan curves on this model are quite good. It would be really nice if that is the case. Because on the original they were atrocious. They kick in at about 40 °C so when performing light tasks they constantly go on and off. Moreover, the curves had no delay to them. So they ramp up super fast.

My Mi Notebook Pro is 2 years old now, 4 semesters university almost daily in my backpack and not even a single scratch on it. This laptop is built like a tank

i bought the model i5-8250U last year.
I also have another HP i5-8250U but it is very noisy and extremely hot!
To be honest, i feel it was much better than my Dell and HP...

For me, biggest issue is avalibility of this device.

I am used to 2 years warranty.
And that is not possible from China.

I really Hope, one time xiaomi laptops will be avalible in europe from local stores.

Thanks for review. I also would like to ask, if its fine to connect video output and charge my notebook at the same time with the same port? Should it be cocked or its fine to use some adapter to get an image from this type-c and charge my laptop? What are your thoughts?)

I would recommend steering clear of the Xiaomi Notebook Pro. I bought mine in 2018 and the WiFi is flake. Touch pad randomly stopped working yesterday. Despite my best attempts it won't work. I would recommend buying a laptop from your local country IMHO.
