I have always thought that it would be redundant reading a novel if I had already watched the movie based on the book. So in this video I am giving my thoughts on the experience of doing this.

What movie based on a book is the best one?

I gave up expecting a book and movie to mirror one another. Books most of the time seem to have greater detail because all the scenes need to be described. Have not read the novel yet but watched the Tom Hanks version last week. He played a grumpy old man very well! I enjoyed the movie.

I keep trying to get my people to watch movies with subtitles, but I haven't been very successful. I love the original film and do not currently have any interest in the Hanks version, but might one day. I'm 55th in line for the book on libby :) I liked that movie... something like the 100 year old man who stepped out of the window?? Not as much as Ove, but fun.

Enjoying hearing your observations about the differences between the movie and book. I watched the American version and it made me cry and laugh, but the book actually made me laugh a lot more because it had that more revealing inner dialogue and not politically correct aspect. The Tom Hanks version was pretty censored lol
Do you know of a place I can watch the original subtitled movie?

Have you read 'Smila's sense of snow'by Peter Hoeg? Great book, can recommend it. Once I saw the film first. For me that was good, because in the beginning. I think the book is confusing. I liked the film very much. I want to add that the filmmaker must sell a movie and after his opinion a name who sells is more important than a description of a character ( Jack Reacher movie versus series) or that the story in the book didn't fit a movie. But sometime the audience get his will as in Jack Reacer and the series. I think it's great because Tom Hanks sucks!
