I have a 2022 S Plaid with FSD. I also signed up to be a Beta tester. The pre V12 version made a huge number of mistakes. It was like a 12 year old driving your car. Last week, I got V12 FSD. Trust me on this; V12 is the equivalent of a skilled human driving your car. At 80 mph on the Interstate, the FSD is totally competent. You can actually watch it do exactly what you would do without intervention. If you are in the left lane, the Tesla will signal a right lane change and allow a faster car to pass you in the left lane. For 99% of driving V12 is totally awesome and super safe. This software update also got a great self parking perk and a No-Hands Needed to open the trunk perk. Tesla is the KING of Automobiles. The sooner you try one out, you will become a Tesla Lover.

I don't see it "thinking" at all. It appears to only "react" and seems to only use a 2 Dimensional understanding not the displayed 3D picture. The 3D is generated for the humans to make it appear clever.
As for learning from video, I am sure it is only learning from 2D "Pictures" not chronological sequence. You can see this when it makes many minor and unnecessary adjustments to the steering wheel and similarly "creep" forward effect. There is no planed sequence, just many separate decisions at each iteration. I think it lacks understanding of what it is doing, no concept of intent / purpose.
A true 3D + time video sequence would need Peta bytes of training.
It looks very like how a learner drivers act/react, except the learner driver already understands sequence progression and intent.
There will always be missing data from the training set. A problem.

Drivers use not only vision. They also use sound and road feel. Also it's unknown what company is leading in autonomous driving, but it is certain that Tesla's autonomous driving is not reality. Even Tesla customer communications warns drivers not to take their eyes off the road and to be ready to take control at all times. Nvidia may be ahead in terms of AI chip manufacturing, but I would not base my judgment of Tesla autonomous driving based on the comments of Nvidia's CEO.
