So, theoretically, you can specify exactly where your donation money is used. If you want to send poor kids through college, you can tell them that it's only for a scholarship that you set up.

I don't know how well they honor this, I'm still in college.

It's not what they can do for you but for society. They still educate the future generations, goodly or evily . And you will be affected by it in one way or another, we all will, just like every investment we make affects us and everything else around us.
