To be honest, M4 destroyed Mk8 R. It is much faster car with 170BHP advantage, but has traction issues. Probably it would be more interesting to compare 445BHP tuned R with M4. They are completely different league in terms of power, performance and price.

Guys, its ridiculous to say m4 is double the price, but is it double the speed? That’s just irrelevant. A lambo is 3 times the price of M4 but it isn’t double the speed either... so irrelevant.
There is more than just speed that settels the price. The way it’s build, the components, the design, quality, exclusiveness, .. its just a better car in every aspect!!!!

I'll pick the the VW Golf R anytime, any day and twice on weekends. All the Golf needs is just a minor tweak of the PCU/ ECU to increase the turbo spools and the M3 will be gobbled for breakfast, munched for lunch and devoured for dinner!

Given the golf r can hold its own against the M4 at half the price and is real world quick enough, it’s a mega package! Just a shame about the interior and no proper buttons! Nice to see the Exton lads back on AHR 👏🏻

Remember that M4 makes 500 hp. Also that in real life nobody ever does a 1/4 mile. You go light to light, maybe a few hundred yards. Really in real life the VW won. Besides all that, drag racing isn't what either of these cars is about. They want a curvy road.

I just traded in my stage 2 S3 (same exact platform as Golf R) for the new M4. Tuning is nice, but the M4 is just another tier of car, and completely outclasses the little 4 cylinder.

BMW unsurprising smashes Golf R. Granted the lighter Golf gets a better start, but mid range onwards, you know where your money has gone in the Bimmer.
