In this video I’m going to be walking you through a blackout kit that I built for my home that's designed to provide illumination and help keep my devices charged whether the blackout only lasts a few hours or if there’s some kind of catastrophic grid down situation and I’m stuck without power for months. The items in the kit have been chosen because they have numerous capabilities that would be useful in this type of situation and excellent run time and together they can provide me with 11,623 hours or approximately 484 days of continuous light plus there are a few off grid items that can be used to charge devices that can keep you going indefinitely.

You can pick up the items in this kit and support the channel using these affiliate links!

For GLOW STICKS:
Buy a bag of a couple hundred "fishing" glow sticks. They're small but very bright and I've had them last for MANY days. They're great for leaving trails or for marking places you'll frequently reach in the dark. They're also insanely cheap! Like...pennies

That ammo can as is wont sheild yiur electrinics from an emp. You need to modify it for that to work. It likely has a rubber gasket in the lid. You need to remove it and use a conductive material to make a new conductive gasket. You also need to line the inside of the ammo can with a non conductive material to put your electronics on so they are not touching the can.

Standardize your stuff flashlights headlights lanterns radios Etc on one or two common and cheap alkaline battery size. For me it's AAA & AA

My short term light light kit is mostly dollar store lights & flashlights, so I can give them to neighbors in the building in a pinch. I do love kits like this though. Am going to make one like one of your other kits though. Great vids dude!

Thanks for this. Mine is very similar. I also look upon the car jumpstarters (I've two, one in the trunk of each car) as 'to augment' my blackout bag.
I also have three UPS/Anti-surge systems, throughout the house, to keep the routers, wi-fi, landline & various computers running if the mains dies.

Very nice blackout setup. I have a few of the luci solar lanterns that can charge themselves. I keep 6 20000 mah power banks charged to make my obulbs/olantern and warrior mini 1 and 2 going for days if not weeks. I do keep 2 of the streamlight aa siege lantern as they use AA and are waterproof also. Also 2 portable solar panels just in case 👍

hi I think you make a mistake, I know the BLF-LT1 can’t run 4320 hours, but 666 hours at low set. it's impossible even close to 11, 623 Hours total.

Great video! The BLF LT1 looks very interesting to me... I lately got the Olight Olantern classic pro 2, which has a super nice, ambient light to light out a room. It's rechargeable and runs for quite some time... And it has this vintage lantern look, that I really love.

That baton 3 looks great... I usually don't like olight compared to nitecore and fenix.. I like how it tail stands and has usb type c in a independent housing charger... hmm

the BLF LT1 and the batterie case are total wins!
would be good if the box glowed in the dark or a reflective colour making it easy to find in a blackout.
i find glow sticks to be pretty useless.

You should keep a piece of cloth or cotton between the metal of the can and the equipment or in case of emp it wont function at all and the can will transfer the electronic waves to your gear
